Children in Jericho and Babylon class will be making draw-string bags for their sunglasses next term. If you have any scrap material (including duvets, pillow cases etc) 20cm x 20cm or bigger, that you would like to donate to this project, we would be very grateful.
If they wish, children can bring in their own buttons, sequins, cord or ribbon from home.
I am writing to you to inform you of some changes which will be taking place to best support your child. As Babylon class is a mixed year 5/6 class, I am mindful that there is preparation towards SATs to best support the year 6 children, which may not always be appropriate for the year 5 children. I need to ensure that both year groups are supported in an appropriate manner, connected to progress and personal development. Therefore, there will be times when the children will be supported as groups outside of the norms of the usual classroom format. I can assure you that this has been thought through extremely carefully and I am sure that the children won’t even realise that there are any changes. However, if you do have any concerns please ensure that you let Mrs Thompson know.
In addition the year 5 children in Babylon class, will obviously not be involved in the residential week (18th – 22nd May) for year 6 children – that fantastic experience will be saved for next year. To ensure that their learning continues over this week, I will be teaching the children. I will be meeting with them about their learning that week, which will be very much child led. I am really looking forward to working with the Year 5s for the week and I am sure that we will have a lot of fun.
